Community Management

We are a mining company inserted in a community. We act to maintain fraternal relationships with our neighbors, and to contribute to local development.

Minera Gaby S.A. is located in the Great North and has direct relationships with Atacameinian communities, contributing to the development of people’s capacities and to the sustainable development of their surroundings.

MGSA is a company reputed in its surroundings for its outstanding contributions to the community. An example of this is the recognition it was awarded for the second consecutive year by the Town of San Pedro de Atacama, and also, the recognition this year by the Town of Calama.

How do we Contribute?

Minera Gaby S.A. is permanently in contact with the communities, developing different projects for their benefits. These are some examples:

  1. We meet every six months with each of the community organizations to learn about their needs and projects.
  2. As a token of respect to the customs and traditions of the indigenous communities neighboring our operation, we proactively take part in their activities and traditions celebrating every year and at the worksite, the ritual payment to the Earth.
  3. In 2010 and together with the different municipalities, we developed the Social Investment Funds (FIS), which benefited 18 institutions of the three counties closest to the operation. Each institution had to co-finance its project in at least 20% of the total cost.
