Tenientinos and tenientinas took a second truck with 8 tons of aid to the Valparaíso region

From mattresses to non-perishable foods and personal hygiene items, a group of Codelco División El Teniente workers arrived in Viña del Mar to continue supporting families affected by the fires.

At seven in the morning, in Viña del Mar, was the time and place agreed by a group of workers from Codelco División El Teniente, to meet and deliver more than eight tons of aid to the families affected by the forest fires that affected that area of the Valparaíso region on February 2.

It was the second support truck that arrived at the upper part of the Garden City to take the contributions to the sectors of Achupallas, Independencia and Olivar, in addition to collection centers.

The campaign organized voluntarily by men and women from Teniente managed to collect mattresses, blankets, water containers, non-perishable foods, tools and work clothes, school supplies and toiletries.

In addition, thanks to an initiative led by a group of women from the Division, feminine personal hygiene items were collected.

The idea of gathering all these elements and delivering them to the affected families came from a group of workers from the Esmeralda mine in El Teniente, who were quickly supported by the Mine Emergency Brigade, the Diablo Regiment mine and the Services and Supplies Management.

Ramiro Salas, a front-end loader operator and one of the coordinators, commented that “El Teniente workers continue to organize ourselves to return with more help and continue supporting those who lost their homes and belongings due to the fire. In total, we managed to deliver 18 tons of contributions.”

In addition, at the collection center located at the O'Higgins Hotel in Viña del Mar, the Codelco El Teniente Supervisors Union (SISET) delivered a significant amount of bottled water.
