“El Teniente del Molino” plaza inaugurated in Coltauco, built with contributions from unions Rol B

The El Teniente Zone, which brings together the Rol B unions of Codelco División El Teniente, financed the space, which has children's games, exercise machines and recreational areas for the family.

A space long awaited by the residents of Coltauco was inaugurated in the El Molino sector. It is the “El Teniente del Molino” plaza, which was built thanks to the contribution of the Zonal El Teniente, which groups the Rol B unions of the Codelco Division, who contributed $101 million for its construction.

“Behind this financing there are more than 2,800 workers, which materializes in actions like this, which are the pillar of the El Teniente Division, generating concrete facts that benefit the community, which is what drives us, giving everything for Chile,” said Jorge Knipp, coordinator of the El Teniente Integrated Operations Center, representing the workers, who attended on behalf of the workers, along with his colleagues Fabián Cid and Héctor Henríquez.

The space had been completely destroyed after the floods that hit the commune last year and today it looks renovated with green areas, children's games, exercise machines and recreational areas for the whole family.

Evelyn Leiva, treasurer of the El Molino Residents’ Association, thanked the workers for their contribution: “This marks a before and after, because this space was abandoned for a long time. Now we can meet as a community and it is one of the most beautiful contributions we have had in the sector, which fills us with joy and motivation to continue moving forward. I thank you on behalf of the entire El Molino community, for the enormous heart you have.”

Macarena Bravo, a resident of the area, said that “it is a wonderful square that gives life to the surroundings, which had been left in a very bad state after the floods. Today it is a beautiful space for children, seniors and the community in general. Now it is up to us to take care of it so that it remains in good condition over time. We are very grateful to the workers of El Teniente.”

Carlos Gálvez, a resident of El Molino, said that the inauguration of the green area “is a great step forward for us, because it is a place that had been lost and today it is great for all of us who live here. Many thanks to the unions, without them this project would not have been possible.”
