Social organizations from Alhué learned how the CIO Room operates

To deepen relations of transparency and trust, leaders of social organizations in that commune learned about the advances in innovation and security that El Teniente carries out in its operations in the Carén reservoir.

Representatives of social organizations from the Hijuelas de Pincha and Quilamuta sectors in Alhué visited the facilities of the Integrated Operations Center of Codelco El Teniente Division in Rancagua, as part of the working group that meets every two months and promotes ongoing collaboration with the communities near the Carén Reservoir, located in that commune of the Metropolitan Region.

Cristián Sanhueza, Community Development Director of the copper company, explained that “they were shown the operation, security, logistics and innovation that exists in their sectors. We strive to open these spaces because we believe that transparency and trust are fundamental. We are convinced that they contribute to reinforcing the triple value, economic, social and environmental, that we seek to promote as a Division.”

Herminia Barraza, president of the Hijuelas de Pincha neighborhood council, said that “with this meeting we are closing 2023 and organizing this new year. We visited the Integrated Operations Center. I liked it because I learned new parts that we had heard about, but it was better to see it in person.”

Alba Mesina, leader of Quilamuta, said: “It caught my attention because we saw all the operations in our sector. One imagined that the operations were up there, but they are in Rancagua. It was a very positive experience.”

The leader María Paz Fuenzalida added that “we came and saw the area where all the Codelco facilities are organized, how they are managed electronically. From the trucks to where the tailings arrive. It was very interesting because we didn't know how it was done and we saw the security of the channel where the tailings arrive and all that.”

During the visit, progress was highlighted on projects such as the construction of a science room, a multipurpose room, and the installation of fiber optics in different sectors of the commune.
