Rector of the University of O’Higgins visited El Teniente

Fernanda Kri, along with other authorities from the university, toured the copper company's Integrated Operations Center and met with its Sustainability and Public Affairs manager, Germán Sandoval, to discuss the joint work that both institutions have developed.

A commission from the University of O'Higgins (UOH) led by its rector, Fernanda Kri, accompanied by Paula Irles, vice-rector for Research, and Marcelo Catejo, director of Community Management at the UOH, visited the Rancagua Yard of Codelco's El Teniente Division and learned how the copper company's Integrated Operations Center operates.

The commission of the state university met with Germán Sandoval, manager of Sustainability and Public Affairs at El Teniente, to discuss the collaboration that both institutions have carried out. “There is an opportunity to combine the experience, the work that our Division does with almost 120 years of mining, with what the academy, research and everything that the University of O'Higgins is developing can contribute,” said the executive.

Fernanda Kri, who visited Codelco's offices for the first time after taking office as rector of the UOH in September of this year, valued the meeting and thanked Codelco for the welcome. "I think we share objectives regarding the contribution we can make to regional development, how we reach people. Opportunities for joint actions opened up for us in the conversation," said the rector.

Codelco El Teniente Division and the University of O'Higgins are currently working on two collaboration agreements. One of them is focused on preliminary studies for the use of treated clear water from the Carén Reservoir, near Alhué, while the other is related to matters of biodiversity in the O'Higgins region.
