Stadium Experience Program brought together 240 female soccer players from Chimbarongo

Representatives from more than 10 sports clubs from that commune and surrounding towns attended the sports day, which took place at the El Teniente stadium.

Codelco's El Teniente stadium was the setting for an unforgettable day for women's football in the O'Higgins region. Organized under the Stadium Experience program, the initiative brought together more than 240 players from ten clubs from Chimbarongo and surrounding towns, as well as family members and fans who accompanied the athletes.

Emerson Contreras, coordinator of the Stadium Experience, highlighted that “we seek to promote inclusion and gender equality. For us, it is important to show the work that is done in División El Teniente with the opening of its sports spaces to the community and to continue growing as a program,” he explained.

The mayor of Chimbarongo, Marco Contreras Jorquera, praised the activity: "I would like to congratulate this initiative by Codelco and thank them for this invitation. We believe that this is the way to build a better country, by making large infrastructures, such as the El Teniente Stadium, open to the community. I think it's fantastic," he said.

Nearly a hundred families, neighbors and residents of the commune also lived the Stadium Experience, supporting their teams from the stands. Patricia Parraguez, secretary of the Quicharcofem club, said that “I am very grateful for the availability of this sports space for us. I think it is fabulous that there is a women's soccer league and thus provide spaces for people to fulfill the idea of a healthy mind and a healthy life,” she said.

Generating social value

The director of Community Development at El Teniente, Cristián Sanhueza, stressed the importance of promoting values such as camaraderie and respect through sport. "Inviting the community and its organizations to the stadium is a way of generating social value, something we consider fundamental," he said.

The Stadium Experience program, in operation since 2022, seeks to strengthen the link between the community and the sporting heritage of the historic El Teniente Stadium. It is designed so that children, young people, seniors and the community in general can learn about and enjoy El Teniente Stadium, the main sports venue in the O'Higgins region.

This year, the initiative, which offers the opportunity to be on the court, see its facilities and experience the sensations that professional athletes experience, is expected to welcome more than 16,000 people.
