The El Teniente Division's "Stadium Experience" program attracts more than 10,000 people so far in 2024

The initiative allows the community to participate in guided tours of the region's main sports venue, develop sports experiences and learn about the history of the place. The goal this year is to add 15 thousand participants.

The El Teniente Division's

As part of the opening of its facilities to the community, Codelco División El Teniente's "Stadium Experience" program has received 10,000 participants so far this year. The initiative aims to provide children, youth, seniors and social organizations with the opportunity to get to know El Teniente Stadium, live healthy and sporting experiences with expert professionals and learn about its history.

During the sessions, participants enjoy a tour of the facilities and courts. In addition, this year, a mural and a scale model of the facilities were inaugurated at the sports complex. The goal for 2024 is to exceed 15,000 attendees.

Rómulo García, coordinator of the divisional program, said that “we are pleased with the positive response that the community has had. For us, it is important to bring people closer to enjoying a first-class stadium. We want the community to be part of and participate in the realization of different activities, in an optimal environment for the development of physical, community and social activities.”

Since its creation, the program has received more than 23 thousand people from Coya, Machalí, Olivar, Coltauco, Alhué, Las Cabras, Rancagua, Requínoa, Lo Miranda and Doñihue, among other areas close to the mining operations.

Reliving the history of the sports venue

To date, various social organisations, educational institutions, sports clubs, kindergartens and special schools have participated in its activities. In collaboration with various institutions, regional football and paddle tennis tournaments have been organised. In addition, swimming and chess competitions were held, corresponding to the School Sports Games of the National Institute of Sport.

Boris Páez, manager of the Escuelita del Barrio de Rancagua sports club, was grateful for the opportunity to organize a sports day. “More than 50 children from different categories attended. This contributes a lot because it motivates them with sports and football. With this, one realizes that the company does positive things for the community and the children,” he said.

Rosario Gutiérrez, president of the Los Años Dorados senior citizens' club, said that "everyone was very happy to see the stadium, especially the exhibition of historic balls. I didn't know about the stadium's history. It's very exciting because we didn't know it and we were fascinated by these facilities."

For Manuel Hernández Campos, coordinator of Extracurricular Activities at the Juan Hoppe Gantz Bicentennial Technical High School, who visited the stadium with 118 students, “the opportunity was valuable because it allows young people to have practical experiences that complement their education.”

This activity is part of the copper company's strategy for developing the territory with social value, which seeks to contribute to the quality of life and the enrichment of the regional sporting legacy.
