The El Teniente Division's “Stadium Experience” program closes 2024 with more than 17 thousand participants

The initiative allowed the community to participate in guided tours of the main sports venue in the O’Higgins region and develop sports experiences and learn about the history of the place.

As part of the opening of its facilities to the community, the “Stadium Experience” program welcomed 17,000 participants during 2024 and exceeded the annual aspiration of reaching 15,000 visitors. The initiative aimed to have children, young people, seniors and social organizations get to know the El Teniente Stadium, learn about its history and live healthy and sporting experiences with expert professionals.

During the sessions, participants enjoy a tour of the facilities and courts. In addition, this year, a mural and a scale model of the facilities were inaugurated at the sports complex.

The director of Community Development at El Teniente, Cristián Sanhueza, stressed the importance of promoting values such as camaraderie and respect through sport. "Inviting the community and its organizations to the stadium is a way of generating social value, something we consider fundamental," he said.

Rómulo García, coordinator of the divisional program, said that “it is important for us to bring people closer to enjoying a first-class stadium. We want the community to be part of it and participate in the realization of different activities, in an optimal environment for the development of physical, community and social activities.”

Reliving the history of the sports venue

To date, various social organisations, educational institutions, sports clubs, kindergartens and special schools have participated in its activities. In collaboration with various institutions, regional football and paddle tennis tournaments have been organised. In addition, swimming and chess competitions were held, corresponding to the School Sports Games of the National Institute of Sport.

Since its creation, the program has received more than 32 thousand people from Coya, Machalí, Olivar, Coltauco, Alhué, Las Cabras, Rancagua, Requínoa, Lo Miranda and Doñihue, among other areas close to the Division's operations.

Rosario Gutiérrez, president of the Los Años Dorados senior citizens club, said that “we were all very happy to see the stadium, especially the exhibition of historic balls. I didn’t know about the history of the stadium. It’s very exciting because we didn’t know it and we were fascinated by its facilities.”

For Manuel Hernández Campos, coordinator of Extracurricular Activities at the Juan Hoppe Gantz Bicentennial Technical High School, who visited the stadium with 118 students, “the opportunity was valuable because it allowed the young people to have practical experiences that complement their training.”
