Rancagua, July 22, 2026 - In his first site visit since taking over as CEO of Codelco, Jorge Gómez began a tour of the Corporation's divisions with a clear message: to strengthen safety, stabilize operations and restore credibility through management close to the operation, based on operational discipline and rigorous compliance with plans.

At the El Teniente Division, he reviewed the progress implemented after the fatal accident of July 2025 and held meetings with workers, union leaders and executive teams to learn firsthand about the main operational challenges.

"Codelco's future is built on the ground. The best solutions often emerge alongside those who face the challenges at the mine site. Our role as leaders is to be present, create the conditions so that everyone can contribute and move forward, with a sense of urgency, in strengthening safety, reducing operational variability, and taking pride in the results we are able to achieve together," Gómez stated.

During the visit, which included tours of Maitenes, the Sub 6 Mine and the remote control room, Jorge Gómez reviewed the safety improvements implemented after the fatal accident in 2025, learned firsthand about the main operational processes and critical risk controls, analyzed the production challenges and the development of deep mining with the teams, and held meetings with workers, union leaders and executives to gather their views and strengthen joint work around the priorities of the division and the Corporation.

"Safety is the condition that makes it possible to produce well and sustainably. When we strengthen our controls, learn from every experience, and work with operational discipline, we protect people and build the trust that Codelco needs to regain," the CEO stated.

With this visit, Jorge Gómez begins a field deployment that will allow him to progressively get to know all the divisions of the Corporation, in a stage that seeks to strengthen operational safety, listen to the teams and evaluate the strategy for the future.
