Codelco marks 11 years as the most attractive company to work for in Chile and reaffirms its leadership in mining

Santiago, August 13, 2026 – In Mining Month, talent is recognized. For the eleventh year, Codelco obtained first place in the Merco Talent ranking, consolidating its position as the most attractive company to work for in Chile and, once again, as the leader among companies in the mining sector.

The 13th edition of the measurement reflects a sustained trajectory over time and highlights the Corporation's ability to attract, develop and retain people.

For Codelco's CEO, Jorge Gómez, this leadership represents both recognition and a responsibility. “Maintaining first place in the Merco Talent ranking for 11 consecutive years is, above all, a testament to the commitment of the people who make up Codelco and the way they perform their work. Having the capabilities that our company requires is fundamental to facing the challenges we are currently undertaking, strengthening our performance, and fulfilling our mandate to Chile,” he stated.

Eleven years of leadership and a challenge for the future

“This result reflects sustained effort and a culture built throughout our history. Our focus is on continuing to strengthen a work experience that allows people to develop, contribute their skills, and find growth opportunities, while preparing Codelco for the challenges ahead,” said Mary Carmen Llano, Vice President of People Management.

Throughout its history, Codelco has also played a significant role in developing skills for the Chilean mining industry. Generations of workers, technicians, professionals, and executives have developed knowledge and experience that have benefited both the Corporation and the industry as a whole.

For Pamela Espinoza, Corporate Talent and Diversity Manager, this trajectory must be projected into the future. “Codelco has historically been a training ground for Chilean mining. We have knowledge, experience, and capabilities built over decades. Our challenge is to project them onto new generations, continue attracting talent, and generate opportunities to develop and prepare it for an increasingly technological, innovative, and sustainable mining industry,” she stated.

A measurement from different perspectives

Merco Talento recognizes the 200 companies with the greatest capacity to attract, develop, and retain talent in Chile. In this edition, more than 50,000 participants contributed their assessments to the study.

The measurement addresses six perspectives related to companies' ability to attract and retain talent, perceptions of how employees are treated, people management, and digital positioning. It also considers aspects such as job attractiveness, employer branding, engagement, and gender equality.

For Merco's general manager, Rodrigo Alvial, Codelco's continued first-place ranking is one of the most significant aspects of the results and largely reflects the purpose the state-owned company represents. “Belonging to Chile's most important company generates a great deal of pride and a strong sense of belonging, as well as a commitment to the country that extends beyond those who currently work there and reaches future generations and job seekers. Codelco is attractive not only to current talent but also to future and expert talent,” he stated.
