The visit allowed for a review of one of the most important initiatives for Chilean mining, which aims to increase production, generate significant economic value, and strengthen the country's competitiveness.
Santiago, April 13, 2026 - Codelco welcomed the Comptroller General of the Republic, Dorothy Pérez, to its Andina Division. The visit was in response to an invitation from the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Corporation, Máximo Pacheco, with the aim of learning firsthand about the Joint Mining Plan being developed by Codelco and Anglo American, the completed Andina Transfer structural project, and the operation of the mining center located in Los Andes, Valparaíso Region.
The visit provided an opportunity to observe the magnitude and geological continuity of the deposit shared by Andina and Los Bronces. The Comptroller also met with the division's workers and participated in a detailed technical presentation about the mining complex and the scope of the Joint Mining Plan.
Following the visit, the chairman of the board of the state-owned company thanked the Comptroller General for her presence. “After 15 years of pursuing this agreement between Codelco and Anglo American, our teams and I have achieved a robust and powerful formula that fills us with satisfaction because it represents immense value for our country and for Codelco's Andina Division. It was an honor and a tremendous opportunity to be able to present this project to the Comptroller General,” Pacheco stated.
The Andina-Los Bronces Joint Mining Plan represents a strategic opportunity for Chile, allowing it to maximize the value of a shared mining district through integrated planning. In terms of production, the plan will generate an additional 2.7 million tons of copper over a 21-year period, with an estimated incremental production of around 120,000 tons per year once it begins operations, projected for 2030.
