Santiago, July 29, 2026 – With deep respect for the memory of the six workers who died in the accident at the El Teniente Division on July 31, 2025, Codelco will commemorate this Friday the first anniversary of one of the most tragic events in its recent history. The Corporation will pay tribute to those who lost their lives and reaffirm its respect for their families, renewing its commitment to continue strengthening safety as the company's top priority, together with Codelco employees and those of its partner companies.
Throughout this year, the Corporation has promoted research, incorporated lessons learned, and strengthened its preventative capabilities to continue raising safety standards in its operations. At the same time, it has maintained ongoing collaboration with the investigations and audits of the relevant authorities, as part of its commitment to learning, continuous improvement, and strengthening a safety culture throughout the organization.
First anniversary commemoration
This Friday, July 31, Codelco will hold commemorative activities at its El Teniente Division, headquarters, and all other operations. The day will include tribute ceremonies, safety briefings during shift changes, moments of reflection, and a minute of silence in memory of the six deceased workers. These events will honor their memory and renew the company's commitment to protecting life and safety as the Corporation's most important value.
