More than 120 patients a month receive care boxes delivered by Codelco División El Teniente to the Community Family Health Center (CECOSF) No. 2 of the Dintrans Population, in the southern sector of Rancagua. The infrastructure has transformed primary care for the community by providing equipped spaces that improve the quality of care.
The new boxes have allowed the health coverage to be expanded, by incorporating areas of kinesiology, general medicine and nursing. Thanks to these modules, the health center operates with extended hours from 08:00 to 17:00.
Angielina Acevedo, head of CECOSF N°2 at Dintrans, explained that “thanks to the modules, the doctor’s workday was extended and the nurse provides care for more hours. In addition, there were new hires, which increased the performance of the service by serving more people daily. This support has allowed us to respond to the increase in patients in primary health care.”
Carlos Vásquez, Community Development Supervisor for El Teniente, explained that “our mission is to promote territorial development with a strong focus on social value. By supporting health initiatives like this, we reaffirm our commitment to the well-being of the community, recognizing that access to quality services is essential for progress. These improvements not only increase the available medical care, but also contribute to building a healthier and more equitable environment.”
The initial project included the installation of a 15-square-metre module, divided into two service bays. In addition, improvements were made to the centre's exterior and accessible parking was created for people with mobility problems.
Fernanda González, a general practitioner, said: “I treat children and the elderly. I arrived after the modules were installed. I am most grateful for the silence so that I can concentrate on the patients. It is very useful for them, especially for mental health checks. The modules are a direct contribution to the community.”
