Máximo Pacheco receives distinctions from the World Energy Council Chile for his role in the country's energy policy

The international organization celebrated 10 years in Chile and highlighted Pacheco's role as former Minister of Energy, both in his support for establishing a presence in the country and his contribution to long-term energy policy.

Santiago, May 7, 2025.- Within the framework of the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the World Energy Council Chile (WEC Chile), the president of the board of directors of Codelco, Máximo Pacheco, received two distinctions from that organization: Promoter Institution, for his role in promoting the creation of WEC Chile during his period as Minister of Energy (2014-2016), and the Leadership and Vision award, in recognition of his contribution to the long-term energy policy implemented in the country.

"I deeply appreciate this recognition. It has been an honor to contribute, through public service, to an energy transformation focused on a cleaner, more competitive, efficient, and sustainable energy mix for Chile. The energy policy we promoted was the result of dialogue, conviction, and the commitment of a country that understood that development and environmental care can go hand in hand," said Máximo Pacheco after the meeting.

WEC Chile celebrated a decade of work in Chile at a ceremony attended by some 200 attendees, which included honoring former energy ministers of the last decade. During the event, Angela Wilkinson, CEO of the World Energy Council (WEC), spoke with Claudio Seebach, former CEO of Generadoras de Chile and current Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Sciences at Adolfo Ibáñez University, about Chile's role in the global energy transformation, among other topics.

WEC is a London-based global network of over 3,000 organizations in more than 80 countries. Its mission is to promote an inclusive, sustainable, and people-centered energy transition, bringing together leaders from the public, private, and academic sectors to address the country's energy challenges.
