Codelco División El Teniente opened its heritage spaces to the public this weekend, gathering more than 2,500 people at Casa 100 and the Central Population of Coya.

These activities, held within the framework of Heritage Day, offered artistic performances and guided tours free of charge.
The celebration included visits to historic sites and buildings related to the mining industry and regional history. Casa 100, built in 1930 and former residence of the mining company's general manager, was one of the main attractions. Visitors were able to tour its rooms and gardens and participate in historical reenactments by the Teatro del Homenaje Company. The Tierra Huasa folkloric group from Gultro also performed, adding a cultural touch to the event.
Fernanda Pérez, from Rancagua, expressed her enthusiasm: “Everything was very new and the story is very nice. It is the first time I have come here and we are very happy to return with my partner and my son.” Jorge Tobar, who travelled from Mostazal with his family, shared a similar opinion: “We visited Casa 100 and we thought it was wonderful to know who had lived there. We also went to the Central Population and we liked everything.”
In the Central Population, declared a Typical Zone in 2017, visitors were able to explore the Electric Museum, the School of Goldsmithing, and the palitroque. Iris García, former national palitroque champion, was present to accompany the visitors. Carlos Arancibia, from Machalí, commented: “I really liked the palitroque area and it was very exciting to listen to the champion. I thought it was spectacular.”
Germán Sandoval, manager of Sustainability and External Affairs at El Teniente, highlighted the high turnout: “We are very pleased with the interest shown by people and we are happy to show these assets that are part of our history and mean a lot to the region and the country.” Leslie Araya, regional director of the National Cultural Heritage Service, underlined the value of industrial heritage and the collaboration with the Sewell Foundation to strengthen these activities.
