The corporate program promotes the development of leadership and management skills in the management and teaching teams of 12 schools. This initiative began in 2021 and will end at the end of this year.

In its third year of implementation, Codelco's “Juntos Aprendemos de Local” program achieved significant progress at the Bernardo O'Higgins Mining Technological Institute (ITMBO) in Rancagua. The institution excelled in the implementation of educational leadership, with positive results in internal and national measurements. Thanks to the direct support of Codelco División El Teniente, this initiative has already benefited more than 800 students at the establishment.
According to figures from Enseña Chile, the institution registered progress at the national level, with an increase of 16 points in the “We are a School that Learns” survey, which reflected an improvement in the community's assessment of leadership, the use of data and teacher support.
Paula Covarrubias, director of the organization's Outreach Area, explained that "we want to highlight the work that the ITMBO team, teachers and students have done. During this time, they have shown great commitment, great purpose with a focus on students, and they have managed to advance through their action plan, which has allowed them to improve the results of the SIMCE Test, which makes us very proud."
For his part, Teodoro Schmidt, senior specialist in Social Management at Codelco, explained that “this school began to show very good results. Among them, the results of the survey stand out, where it leads with an increase of 16 points in the community's evaluation. We believe that the active participation of the school has been key to generating and having good results.”
In the last year, these efforts promoted increases in the SIMCE test for Second Year, with an increase of 18 points in Language and Literature and 25 points in Mathematics. In addition, progress has been recorded in the Higher Education Access Test (PAES), which has facilitated students' access to university.
Humberto Pizarro, the school's director, said that "in 2018, this was a school that was classified as insufficient by the Education Quality Agency. These positive results are the result of the support we have received, such as that of El Teniente. Today, with absolute pride, we have better academic results and in school coexistence."
Thanks to these achievements, the Technological Institute has received the academic excellence award, a recognition granted through the National System for Evaluation of the Performance of Educational Establishments.
Sally Mancilla, head of the Technical Pedagogical Unit at the school, said that “the program has had an impact on the professional development of our teachers. This has helped in the learning and motivation of our students. We see that our teachers are highly qualified and are becoming more skilled every day.”
El Teniente Community Development Supervisor Carlos Vásquez added that “we are very satisfied with the progress. These results reflect the commitment of the school's management team and teachers, which has made it possible to have a direct impact on the students' comprehensive learning."
At the national level, the program has enhanced the leadership skills of 470 managers and teachers, benefiting more than 7,000 students. In its final stage, the implementation of the action plans of each of the leadership teams will continue to be monitored, in order to ensure installed capacity.
