In order to promote sustainability and community development, El Teniente is organizing “Shared Vision,” a series of workshops aimed at representatives of collaborating companies to integrate them into the divisional purpose of generating triple value: economic, environmental and social.

The manager of Sustainability and External Affairs of the mining company, Germán Sandoval, highlighted the importance of this initiative. “These three pillars are fundamental for our operation and require close coordination and strategic planning. El Teniente is an active part of this region, we have a commitment to the community and the environment and we want this effort to be shared and coordinated,” he said.
The main purpose of the workshops has been to raise awareness among business leaders about the importance of getting involved in integrated mining. To this end, the meetings are addressing aspects of safety and economic production, as well as sustainability and community relations.
The director of Community Development of El Teniente, Cristián Sanhueza, stressed that “it is important to work together to address the needs of the environment. We recognize that success is not in our hands, but in the joint work and collaboration with all the actors involved.”
Today, the Division covers an area of over 150,000 hectares, comprising three regions and 42 communes. In this area, the copper company shares direct relations with more than 500,000 residents.
Mauricio Muñoz, Director of Management and Supervision of Contractor Companies at El Teniente, stressed that “by attending our work, we are constantly in contact with the community. Our goal is to exert a positive influence on the community, through its active participation.
Carla Abarca Salinas, Assistant Manager of Labor Relations and Human Resources at Constructora Gardilcic, said that “this collaborative work will help us generate more ideas and work together to deliver a much more powerful message to the community.”
Meanwhile, María Cecilia Jünemann, general manager of JEJ Ingeniería SA, stressed that “it is important to align ourselves and generate a greater impact. This can also help us add value to the business and share practices with other companies.”
“El Teniente has a very good reputation in the area. The challenge is for us, as collaborating companies, to be part of that assessment,” added Javiera Martínez, Human Resources Manager at DMC Mining Services.
In the coming months, a series of workshops, talks and socio-environmental fairs will be held in order to promote integration between the various companies and the different territories. Secondly, the aim is to involve representatives of the unions of these companies.
