The works have already reached 40% progress and include a perimeter fence, installation of inclusive access and rainwater evacuation works. Through the generation of local employment, the agreement will contribute to the education of more than 250 students.

Codelco El Teniente Division, through its local labor contracting program, reached 40% progress in the infrastructure improvement project of the Colegio República de Chile in Lo Miranda.
The director of Community Development of El Teniente, Cristián Sanhueza, explained that “this is a virtuous initiative because it was born from the educational community in the search to improve the school facilities and the education of the boys and girls. This work is carried out with a local company and workers from the area. With this alliance we want to develop the territories with social value and what better way to do it from the base, education.”
The agreement, which consists of the installation of a perimeter fence, inclusive access and improvement work on the evacuation of rainwater, will benefit the 250 students from pre-kindergarten to eighth grade who are enrolled in the school. “Having this alliance with El Teniente is positive because the support reaches all these families directly and contributes to the comprehensive development of our students,” celebrated the director, Daniela Miranda.
Contribute to the education of the area
The initiative has been developed together with the local company Estructur DPV, which has a dozen workers from Doñihue and Lo Miranda. “Our company is made up of respect and always improving the work we deliver. In this case, we have worked with different schools in the commune, where we try to give the best possible product,” said the legal representative, Daniel Pérez.
Luis Armijo, a company employee and resident of Doñihue, added that “we are building schools for the children of the same community and that is very special. I have children who study in the schools where I have worked and I feel proud of that.”
Katherine Jorquera, a former student at Colegio La Isla, who previously benefited from a similar program promoted by Codelco, is now contributing to the improvement of another school through her internship. “This experience has been very nice because it gives a new image to the schools in our area. But, in addition, it is an opportunity to work and improve myself,” she explained.
