The division will report on its plan to restart operations and the measures implemented to achieve this. The contract suspension announced yesterday will begin to be lifted as of now.
Rancagua, August 9, 2025.- The Labor Directorate authorized the resumption of work at the underground mine of Codelco's El Teniente Division, limited to the sectors that were not affected by the accident that occurred on July 31.
Following an on-site inspection conducted by the agency's inspectors, safety conditions were verified in the Pilar Norte, Esmeralda Panel, Esmeralda, Upper Pacific, Diablo Regimiento, Reno Panel, Dacita, and Reservas Norte areas. The process included a review of the Sernageomin technical report, which had previously approved the lifting of the strike in the designated areas, as well as the required documentation regarding occupational health and safety.
Among the background information reviewed are: the employee reinstatement program, the hazard identification and risk assessment matrix (MIPER), the updated preventive program, emergency response plans, training programs and safety talks, the occupational health and safety management system, and observations from the Joint Committee and the company's Safety Department.
Based on this review and the inspections conducted, the Labor Directorate reported the feasibility of resuming operations in the indicated sectors, maintaining the shutdown in the Recursos Norte, Andesita, Andes Norte, and Diamante areas.
The labor authority specified that the total suspension decreed on August 1 remains in effect for these latter sectors and that the complete lifting of the suspension will depend on new resolutions and inspection reports from Sernageomin, in addition to the corresponding inspections by the Labor Directorate.
Thus, authorized restarts are strictly limited to unaffected sectors, provided they comply with established safety and prevention measures.
The El Teniente Division will announce its plan to restart operations as soon as possible, along with the conditions and measures implemented to achieve this. The immediate resumption of operations now allows for the lifting of the suspension of contracts with collaborating companies in the mine areas, as announced yesterday.
