With a focus on quality of life, El Teniente Division held the first Wellness Expo

In front of the Colón Bajo casino, workers participated in activities such as active breaks, healthy food stands, mental health and disease prevention.

Putting people at the center and, with that, emphasizing the comprehensive well-being, quality of life and health of workers, was the focus of the first Expo Bienestar fair organized by the Occupational Health and Safety Management of Codelco El Teniente held in Colón Bajo, the industrial area where the Division's Concentration Plant is located.

“Our own employees and those of our collaborating companies are the main focus, and on this occasion we are providing them with diverse information in areas such as healthy eating, physical activity, mental health and disease prevention,” explained Dr. Ignacio Henríquez, Director of Epidemiological Surveillance at El Teniente.

Estefanía Sánchez, nurse in charge of the Division's Wellness Program, stressed the importance of providing information directly to workers through activities such as this one, which also included active breaks for attendees.

Among the exhibiting organizations were the Fusat Clinical Hospital; Aramark food services; and the Chilean Safety Association (ACHS).

For Yasna López, a cleaning assistant, the experience of participating in the activity was very positive. “We learned to eat healthier and also things we didn’t know about, such as the vegetarian menu that exists in casinos, in addition to getting away from the daily grind and disconnecting a little,” she said.

First grade teacher Felipe Moreno said, “I found this initiative entertaining and nice because it took us out of our routine and it was good to encourage people to eat healthy and do physical activity.”
