Codelco promotes sport in Coya through support for local clubs

On the anniversary of the town, four sports clubs and the Coya Football School received equipment and complete clothing as part of the agreement “Supporting to improve the quality of life of the residents of Coya”.

At the Población Central field, Codelco División El Teniente formalized the agreement “Supporting to improve the quality of life of the residents of Coya”. The agreement benefited the residents of the sector through the delivery of complete clothing and sports equipment for the Santa Magdalena, Población Errázuriz, Unión and Bellavista clubs.

“This helps us to include more people and allows us to strengthen the female branch. This equipment helps us to supply all the people in the club,” said the president of the Bellavista club, Valentín Ávila.

In turn, the Coya Soccer School received more than 140 sports equipment that will help in the training of boys and girls. “This helps us to make the training and preparation more comprehensive so that they can prepare in the best way for the championships that we organize for them,” said Loreto Palacios, treasurer of the organization.

The Director of Community Development of El Teniente, Cristián Sanhueza, explained that “Coya is the closest town to our operations. The main concern for the quality of life of the residents is one of our main values and within that we want to encourage sports, as part of the social value that the Division has applied in its strategy.”

Promote sport and healthy living

This milestone is part of the Division's Quality of Life Program, which seeks to open spaces and assets in El Teniente through sports and healthy living. This year, the initiative has benefited more than 10,000 residents from six communes.

Rómulo García, coordinator of the program, said that “this is the first time that a sports agreement with this scope has been created. The idea is that they can be motivated and generate interesting projects for the clubs, always for the benefit of the children of the community.”

50 boys and girls from the Coya Football School closed the day with the exhibition of the new clothing that they will wear in their next sporting challenges.
