With deep sadness, Codelco reports that, as part of the search efforts at the El Teniente Division, human remains have been found that have yet to be identified by the competent authorities. The prosecutor in charge and PDI personnel are already on their way to the scene to begin the corresponding procedures.
Rancagua, August 2, 2025. This information was first communicated to the families of the five trapped miners, whom we share in their grief and to whom we direct all our efforts. The government and relevant authorities were also notified.
"We know this news hits the families of our colleagues and our entire mining community hard. From the very beginning, we have worked tirelessly, using all the resources, the best technology, and the best experience available. This discovery fills us with sadness, but it also shows us that we are in the right place, that the strategy we followed led us to them," said Andrés Music, general manager of the El Teniente Division.
Music added that the search efforts will continue. "We will continue working with all our strength and hope, but now with greater caution, which could mean that progress will be slower."
Mary Carmen Llano, Codelco's Vice President of People, emphasized that the company is closely supporting the families. "We have directly informed the families and have provided all the necessary support to ensure they have support during this difficult time. Our commitment is to continue until we find all our colleagues and bring them home with the dignity they deserve."
Codelco reaffirms its absolute commitment to the families and to each of the workers who remain at the mine, as well as its determination to continue the search efforts with the utmost dedication and respect.
