Rancagua, August 7, 2025.- Codelco released a new report on the actions taken following the accident at the El Teniente Division this Thursday at 5:00 p.m., detailing assistance measures for families, the status of operations, and progress in the investigations.
In terms of support for families and workers, the company reported that Alex Araya's funeral was held at Rancagua's Sendero Park, a ceremony attended by company representatives. In addition, new contracting firms—Prosiga, Xtreme, and Mies—have joined the coordination of the support and containment plan led by Codelco, which already included Aura, DMC, Bormax, CYGSA, and Enaex.
To date, 3,263 workers have participated in reflection and support sessions, including 1,502 from the A shift in the online session "Together in Grief" and 1,261 from El Teniente and the Vice Presidency of Projects in in-person activities. The Mental Health Support and Assistance Program has served 500 people, and a Psychosocial Support and Guidance Center (CECOP) has been set up, providing call center support.
Regarding operations, underground work remains suspended by Sernageomin resolution, with entry restricted to critical personnel only for the protection of the facilities. The division's general manager held meetings with leaders of all workers' unions (role B). Currently, 434 people from shift C and 5,051 from shift A are assigned to guard and maintenance duties. The smelter remains under scheduled maintenance, while the plant performs routine tasks and maintenance is being performed on the tailings sluice.
In the investigative arena, Codelco reported that it has already responded to two requests for information from Sernageomin (National Ministry of Labor) to advance toward a possible authorization for the safe and gradual restart of operations. In addition, the information requested by the Directorate of Labor (DT) has been provided.
Meanwhile, the regional prosecutor and a PDI team conducted investigations at the mine, including visits to Teniente 7, Andesita, and other damaged areas. The company's Internal Investigation Commission held its third session, this time on-site, while the El Teniente Advisory Council met for the second time, with the participation of the company's CEO, vice presidents, Laurence Golborne, and Octavio Araneda.
Codelco
