Rancagua, August 31, 2025.- Codelco reports that, following a 2.3 magnitude earthquake recorded at 12:41 today, it activated preventive protocols for the suspension of activities and the evacuation of all workers.
The seismic event occurred west of the field below elevation 1,518, in an area currently inoperable. All workers were immediately evacuated to safe areas in the civic neighborhoods. Sernageomin was also informed of the incident.
Codelco reports that no workers have been injured in this incident and is currently assessing conditions before determining the next steps inside the mine.
