In an activity held at the Gabriela Mistral Division and followed from the different work centers, the executive president, Rubén Alvarado, presented the values that must connect all those who work for the Corporation.

With a corporate-level activity held at the Gabriela Mistral Division and headed by the executive president, Rubén Alvarado, and ceremonies at each work center, Codelco presented on April 17 its new Charter of Values with the 5 principles that must connect all those who work for the Corporation: We take care of ourselves; We live respect; We comply with excellence and innovation; We value collaboration: and We build the future with sustainability.
At the beginning of the day, Camila Rojas Farías was remembered, who died in an accident on March 8, in the Radomiro Tomic Division.
In El Teniente, the launch was organized in the Maestranza 1 of the Teniente 8 Railway and was attended by the Vice President of Mining Resources, Development and Innovation, Nicolás Rivera; the Corporate Manager of Culture and Diversity, Carmen Duarte; the General Manager of the Division, Andrés Music; executives, union leaders and workers from the company itself and from collaborating companies.
Alvarado commented that “today marks the end of a tremendous process in which all of us, represented by three thousand people who participated in this long journey, defined the values that unite us, what we have in common, what matters to all of us equally and what drives us towards the same objective.”
The CEO added that “we agreed on the values that connect us and made them explicit in a letter of commitment. And we did not stop there. We took another step as important as the first: because values must be translated into concrete actions, we put on the table what we will do to respect them and what we will NOT do, that is, how we will put them into practice on a daily basis.”
Collaborative work
The new challenges that Codelco must face promoted the updating of the Charter of Values that had been in force since 2011 and the definition of the 5 guiding principles that must inspire and guide the decision-making and daily management of all those who work at the Corporation.
Vice President of People Management, Mary Carmen Llano, explained that “for this work, we convened almost 3,000 people from across the Corporation during 2023, highlighting the importance of incorporating all of our diversity, to find out how we understand our culture and what principles drive us. After months of listening and putting our findings into words, at the end of last year, the board of directors approved the new values that we all agreed upon.”
According to the executive, “the Charter of Values is a document that consolidates the corporate principles that represent us and that will become the driving force for promoting changes in behavior, attracting and retaining talent, and boosting competitiveness.”
Connecting values with business
At Maestranza 1, El Teniente's general manager, Andrés Music, stated that “it is essential to remember what these principles are for. Values are the compass that guides our decisions and actions, ensuring that each step we take is aligned with our vision and mission. They are important because they connect us directly with our goals, not only on paper, but day to day in our work.”
Finally, executives, union leaders, supervisors, and both our own and contracted workers signed their commitment to the new charter.
