Nearly five thousand people enjoy the summer in the El Teniente Stadium Experience program

Residents from different communes, sports clubs, social organizations, public institutions and company workers and their families have participated in the activities organized by Codelco at the region's main sports venue.

In a summer season that has not given any respite with its high temperatures, the Stadium Experience summer program, organized by Codelco División El Teniente, has been an oasis for nearly 5 thousand people who have enjoyed the recreational activities carried out in the main sports venue in the region.

Guided by physical education teachers, the invitation allowed sports clubs, neighborhood associations, senior citizen associations and social organizations to come to the El Teniente Sports Center to take part in a tour of the stadium and participate in recreational days in the remodeled outdoor pool.

Emerson Contreras, coordinator of the program, explained that “with this, we generate a concrete social value. Our objective is to offer experiences that promote community cohesion and improve the quality of life in the region. These days not only provide recreation, but they also generate a positive impact on the well-being of their participants.”

El Teniente defined the triple economic, social and environmental value as the axis of the divisional strategy and people as the center of that strategy. With that objective and continuing with the successful program that led, in 2023, more than 13 thousand people to live the Stadium Experience, in the summer of 2024 more than 600 beneficiaries of social programs from the O'Higgins Region were invited to participate.

Collaborative work with institutions in the region

Thanks to collaborative work with the Regional Directorate of the National Service for Specialized Protection of Children and Adolescents, more than 440 children, adolescents, caregivers and professionals from various residences, foster care programs and outpatient projects attended the stadium.

“These activities foster the connection between professionals and children and adolescents. This relationship not only encourages adherence to treatment, but also contributes positively to the therapeutic process,” added Richard Sepúlveda, a psychologist from the Specialized Protection Program for Serious Abuse and Sexual Abuse.

Also, 150 patients, family members and professionals from the Adult Day Hospital, belonging to the Mental Health and Psychiatry Service of the Regional Hospital, joined the experience. Isabel Saavedra Correa, coordinator of the group, explained that “community activities are part of our approach to intervention with our patients. In addition, it helps us to break down the stigmas that exist regarding mental health difficulties and the lack of knowledge in society.”

From Tuesday to Sunday mornings, 1,280 residents of Rancagua, 720 adults and 520 minors, have participated in swimming classes thanks to an agreement between Codelco and the Municipality of Rancagua. The management of the workshops and registrations were administered by the Municipal Sports Corporation.
