Thanks to the contribution of Zonal El Teniente, which brings together all the role B unions of the Division, the space that was destroyed by the floods last June and August is being remodeled.

Last winter, 80% of the Coltauco commune suffered flooding that affected families in the area. From the very beginning, workers from Codelco División El Teniente organized themselves to provide various supports, through volunteer work and the distribution of household goods, food, tools and other items.
In addition to those contributions, the Division's Rol B unions, grouped in the El Teniente Zone, donated $101 million to the municipality last November for the remodeling of a plaza in the El Molino sector, which was completely destroyed by the water, mud and sediments carried by the flooding of the Cachapoal River.
Today, the work is moving forward at full speed: the old damaged playground equipment has already been removed and work has begun to level the ground.
“Without a doubt, the work being carried out in the Plaza de El Molino, thanks to the contribution of the Codelco El Teniente Trade Union Zone, has been fundamental for the community and has given life to the sector,” said Félix Sánchez, mayor of Coltauco. “The residents are very happy and hopeful, the work is progressing quickly and we are very grateful. We only have thanks for the workers of El Teniente.”
Entertainment for the whole family
One of the points highlighted by both Mayor Sánchez and the president of the El Teniente and Zonal Union, Alfonso Saavedra, is that the new space, whose delivery is planned for the end of May, will be an area for people of all ages.
“With this we seek to materialize a project that people asked us for, because this space for recreation and leisure had been destroyed. We hope that this will be a nice memory on the part of the workers and that it will remain for a long time so that the neighbors can enjoy it,” said Saavedra.
“In this plaza, people will have a place to have fun with the whole family, in a safe way, and what we agreed on was that the equipment, the games, the facilities, would be of high quality, so that it would be a nice memory and this contribution from the workers would last,” he added.
