150 representatives of collaborating companies reinforce their commitment to safety in the El Teniente Division

At a meeting headed by the Occupational Health and Safety Manager, Maximiliano González, it was agreed to continue promoting a preventive culture in all of the Division's operations.

More than 150 managers and representatives of El Teniente's partner companies met with the mining company's Occupational Health and Safety Manager, Maximiliano González, to reinforce the company's commitment to worker safety, reflect on daily work and promote a culture of prevention in all of the Division's operations.

During the day, the importance of using green cards was highlighted as a vital tool to identify and stop activities that are not being carried out safely. This initiative of the Corporation is considered essential to prevent accidents and protect the lives of workers.

"The challenge we have is to review the events and learn from each one of them, incorporating the different perspectives of each organization and being proactive, anticipating and detecting our unsafe behaviors," said Maximiliano González, highlighting the value of sharing experiences and knowledge between companies to continuously improve safety.

“It is essential that each member of the organization knows the strategy and generates a divisional culture where the concepts of safety, self-care, social care and family are internalized. In this context, it is very important to become strategic allies with collaborating companies and take immediate action in the face of unsafe conditions or actions,” added González.

“Continuous improvement and proactivity”

Susana Azar, McLean's Corporate Operations Manager, emphasized the importance of anticipation in security management, given that "we have to be one step ahead, not wait for things to happen to take preventive action. We all have a role in ensuring that operations are carried out safely."

Javier Valenzuela, general manager of Guiñez Ingeniería, highlighted how this collaboration fosters a culture of continuous improvement and proactivity: "Our main objective is for our workers to arrive home safe and sound. Therefore, safety reflections are key to always remembering that we must be proactive, and not wait for incidents to occur," he said.

For Fernando Vergara, Contract Coordinator at SGS SIGA, these meetings reinforce that preventive tools are crucial to avoid accidents: "Regarding fatigue and drowsiness control, it is important to have technological elements, but even more important is to generate confidence in employees so that if they feel that they are not in a condition to drive, they have the confidence to say so and prevent accidents."

Finally, Juan Carlos Quintana, HSEC Manager at Geosinergia e Ingeniería de Medio Ambiente Limitada, reaffirmed the need for these alliances to ensure a safe work environment. "Safety is not compromised because it is an essential part of the job. These meetings allow us to refresh our commitments and ensure that safety is always a priority," Quintana commented.

At the meeting, Eduardo Muñoz, Transcargo operations supervisor, was recognized for using preventive tools by raising the Green Card, a device carried by all workers in order to stop a risky activity, eight times a year. This recognition was used to value his commitment to his own safety and that of his coworkers.
