Since the beginning of the XXI century, Codelco Chile started
to define its strategy on the basis of a vision of future
that implies consolidating its leadership as copper producer,
through means allowing to develop its business potential,
to maximize its ec<onomic value and its contribution to
the State.
Most of these goals have been expressed in the framework
of a Joint Strategic Plan started in 2000, involving all the
workers of the Corporation, which promotes a management style
based on cooperation, conviction, partipation and team work.
This strategic program outlined a vision of the Corporation
for the year 2006. "Codelco, a company 100% State owned,
will be world leader in competitivity, fully developing all
the potential of its people and business capacity". Also,
it made a commitment to its Owner, represented by all Chileans:
to double its economic value in the period 2000-2006 on the
basis of the copper price forecasts in the international markets.
To meet these commitments, Codelco defined seven Strategic
Priorities in which it will focus its efforts:
- To fully develop its business potential both in Chile
and abroad.
- To develop the potential of its workers and supervisors,
participative management and to strengthen the Strategic
Alliance.
- To ensure the integral quality and continuous improvement
of the processes.
- To incorporate technology as an essential condition for
competitivity.
- To create new markets and to promote copper consumption.
- To reinforce its commitment to protect the environment
and to strengthen its relationships with the community.
- To create the institutional conditions making it possible
to compete in equal conditions with the private companies
of the industry.
