The International Conference "The Technological Innovation in CODELCO: a World-Scale Experience", an initiative of the Corporación Nacional del Cobre de Chile, CODELCO, will be held in Santiago, Chile on september 12 and 13, 2005. This event is aimed at generating a forum to exchange views on innovation in global companies and to present CODELCO's model of technological management and innovation as a source of creation of value.

This event will bring together over 300 senior executives of the global mining industry along with international and local businessmen, researchers and representatives from R&D centers, politicians, opinion leaders, academics and the specialized press.

The Conference venue is Hotel Sheraton Santiago's San Cristóbal Room and will last one and a half day. This is an invitation only and free of charge event. Participants can register online at www.codelco.c, using the password attached to their invitation letter.

The goals of the Conference:

• Present the four technological breakthroughs of high impact on CODELCO's development plans, in which Innovation plays a key role as source of creation of value.
  
• Encourage innovation initiatives in Chile and abroad.
  
• Expound to local and international experts and business people the transformation applied in CODELCO's production processes, through the incorporation of new technologies and knowledge.
  
• Show that CODELCO's case aligns with international tendencies and patterns followed by other companies in the mining (and other) industries to incorporate value to their production.
